Redaktionelle Richtlinien

This editorial policy sets out the standards and practices that govern all content published by Pressesicht (pressesicht.de), operated by Pressesicht Media Ltd. The policy is overseen by Chefredaktör Matthias Winter and applies to every article, analysis, and opinion piece on the site.

Who is responsible for Pressesicht’s editorial standards?

Chefredaktör Matthias Winter bears ultimate responsibility for all editorial standards, publication decisions, and corrections at Pressesicht. He works alongside the editorial team to ensure every piece meets our quality benchmarks.

Pressesicht is owned and operated by Pressesicht Media Ltd., a private company registered in Gibraltar (company number C 92009, Malta Business Registry). Our registered office is Office 9, Business Centre, Valletta, 0000. Full ownership and funding details are available on our ownership and funding page. This structure guarantees that editorial decisions remain independent of any external commercial or political influence.

How do we distinguish between news, opinion, features, sponsored and affiliate content?

Every piece of content on Pressesicht carries a clear label indicating its type: news, analysis, opinion, feature, sponsored content, or affiliate link disclosure. Readers can immediately see whether an article reports facts, presents a writer’s viewpoint, or is commercially supported.

News articles report facts verified by multiple sources and are written without editorialising. Opinion pieces are clearly marked as such and reflect the views of the named writer or guest contributor. Features provide deeper context and analysis, drawing on expert interviews and original research. Sponsored content is labelled “sponsored” or “partner content” and is produced in collaboration with a commercial partner under our sponsored content policy. Affiliate links are disclosed at the point of use, as explained in our advertising and affiliate disclosure. No commercial relationship can dictate our editorial conclusions.

What transparency do we provide at the article level?

Each article on Pressesicht is signed by its named writer and reviewed by an editor before publication. A byline, editor credit, and date stamp appear on every piece, and any corrections are logged on the article itself.

Articles include a clear publication date and, where updated, a revision note. Our fact-checking policy details the verification procedures applied before publication. If an error is identified after publication, we correct it promptly and add a correction notice at the top of the article, as set out in our corrections policy. Readers can also see which editor approved the piece and, for longer investigations, the methodology used.

How do we ensure editorial independence?

Pressesicht’s editorial conclusions are never influenced by commercial relationships. Funding sources, including display advertising, affiliate links, and sponsored content, are clearly disclosed, and our ownership structure is transparently published.

Our revenue comes from display advertising, affiliate links, commercial partnerships, sponsored content, newsletter sponsorships, and content licensing. All commercial material is clearly labelled, and no advertiser or partner has any editorial control over news coverage. For a full breakdown of ownership and funding, see ownership and funding. For details on how we manage commercial content, see advertising and affiliate disclosure.

What is our policy on artificial intelligence and automation?

AI-assisted tools may support research, drafting, formatting, or translation, but never replace human editorial judgement. Every published piece is reviewed and approved by a human editor, and AI must never fabricate sources or quotes.

Our AI and automation policy sets out the specific tools we use and the safeguards in place. These include mandatory human review of all editorial content, a ban on AI-generated bylines or author profiles, and strict rules against fabricating quotes, sources, or interviews. Where AI has been used in research or drafting, this is noted internally, but the final responsibility always rests with the named writer and the editing team.

How are writers and editors attributed?

All editorial content is credited to a named writer from our team, with their role and contact information listed on the Our Team page. Editors who review and approve articles are also identified where relevant.

Every article includes the writer’s name and a link to their bio on the Our Team page. The editor responsible for the piece is listed in the article metadata. Guest contributors are clearly identified as such. This attribution ensures accountability and allows readers to verify the writer’s expertise and background. No anonymous bylines are used except in exceptional circumstances where safety is a concern, and even then the editorial chain of responsibility is documented internally.

What is the route for complaints or corrections?

Readers who wish to raise a complaint or request a correction can contact our complaints team via complaints procedure or email corrections@pressesicht.de. All complaints are handled by Chefredaktör Matthias Winter.

We take every complaint seriously and respond within five working days. Our complaints procedure outlines the steps: acknowledgment, investigation, decision, and, if upheld, a correction or clarification. Where a correction is made, we update the article and add a correction notice. Complaints about sponsored content are handled with the same rigour. We also publish a summary of upheld complaints annually.
